Rihanna is set to settle her legal issues with her father. The Grammy award-winning singer commenced the lawsuit against her father, Ronald Fenty after it came to her attention that he was using her name and likeness for profit.
In 2018, Ronald tried to trademark the name “Fenty” for a line of boutique hotels, however, the request was declined by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Mr. Fenty’s argument is that he was the first to use “Fenty” and not Rihanna. Ronald claims that he established am entertainment company to begin his reality show and to promote his “career, business activities, personal branding and name recognition in the entertainment industry and as a celebrity.”
Rihanna is accusing her father of booking her for shows priced at $15 million without her consent. The mediation will take place in March of 2020.
