A five-year-old elementary student brings heroin to school and tells his teacher when he tastes the powder he feels like Spider-Man.
In Holyoke, Massachusetts, the father of 5 year-old-boy, Benny Garcia is facing charges of drug possession and reckless endangerment of a child. Garcia has pleaded not guilty to the drug charges.
The teacher is the one that reported the situation to the appropriate authorities. Thursday morning, prosecutors say the 5-year-old brought a small decorative bag with a drawing of spider man on the front of it. The bag consisted of a powder-like substance. The young boy brought the bag of heroin to his kindergarten class to showcase what he believes what the powder can do. It was reported that the son opened the bag and tasted the substance while telling his teacher, “this powder turns him into a superhero.”
Garcia’s son was rushed to the hospital but was unharmed and sent to child services. On the other hand, the father, Benny Garcia, is held at the Holyoke County Jail without bail. His next scheduled court day will be tomorrow November 20th, 2019.
