We just have one question…HOW?!?!

Georgia Southern University quarterback Shai Werts was arrested in South Carolina on July 31st after authorities mistook bird feces on his car for cocaine of all things. The officers initially pulled Werts over for speeding but ended up searching his car. In dashcam footage just released, officers can be seen paying close attention to the hood of Werts’ 2016 Dodge Charger.

“What’s the white stuff on the front of your hood, man?” asked the officer. Werts responded emphatically, “Bird sh**!” There exchanged continued, “I swear to God it’s not [bird sh**],” said the officer, “because I just tested it, and that turned pink.”

Werts was subsequently arrested and charged with misdemeanor cocaine possession and speeding. The 21-year-old was also suspended from participating in any team-related activities. But the prosecutors issued a statement on Thursday clearing Werts. “On August 8, 2019, SLED [South Carolina Law Enforcement Division] received the substance and completed the drug analysis. The forensic scientist determined that no controlled substance was detected,” the statement read. “The Solicitor’s Office has begun the expungement process to have this charge removed from the system to ensure that this arrest and charge does not create a criminal history for Werts.”
