Cardi B, Yo Gotti, French Montana, City Girls, and Master P have found themselves in a bit of a pickle as DJ JMK, the producer of the beat for the popular song “Choppa Style”, has issued a copyright infringement lawsuit in reference to them using the “Choppa Style” beat without giving proper credit or paying.
According to JMK, all of the artists mentioned have misappropriated recognizable and key protected elements when they sampled the song, and he should have gotten paid for each sample.
Cardi B and City Girls allegedly used a sample of his track on their collaboration “Twerk” and Yo Gotti and French Montana allegedly sampled his beat on their 2017 hit “Oh Yeah.”
