My mind is telling me, NO but my body is telling me…?
Even with R. Kelly’s bold threat of a federal lawsuit, Lifetime’s “Surviving R. Kelly” docu-series, still made its way into viewers homes last night. A 6-part documentary that explores the singer’s infamous numerous sexual allegations with underage women. By the second episode’s conclusion of the series, people from all over the world made their way online to voice their displeasure of the Chicago star’s life.
The first two of the six-episode series introduces Kellz and presents statements from alleged victims and family members discussing his disturbing sexual behavior over the past three decades.
In the first episode, Kelly’s siblings speak on “I Believe I Can Fly” singer being molested by an older female family member before he reached puberty. The conversation transitions to the launch of his music career, people in Kelly’s inner circle begin to elaborate on the singer’s alleged predatory habits
In the second episode, we hear more about the manipulative relationships he had with his ex-wife Drea Kelly and another young singer named Lizette. After Lizette lost her baby, Kelly reportedly wrote a song about the situation, which supposedly ended up becoming Micheal Jackson’s “You Are Not Alone.” The second episode touches on Kelly’s relationship with R&B singer Sparkle’s niece, who met Kelly at age 12, and the infamous pee video.
Later on, backup singer Jovante Cunningham talks about catching Kelly having sex with a then-15-year-old Aaliyah on a tour bus, which her mother Diane Haughton says isn’t true. Then, Kelly’s former tour manager and personal assistant Demetrius Smith spoke about witnessing the Chicago singer’s quick wedding to Aaliyah, who was 15 at the time but was listed as 18 due to forged paperwork. By the end of the episode, the Internet was already outraged.
John Legend one of the select few celebrities that participated in the docuseries had this to say:
