James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” segments can be pretty hit or miss. But when the hits happen, it’s usually because the guests just lean into being gloriously weird or unpredictable. We got a taste of that on Tuesday night when Migos hopped in the passenger seats.
The whole segment is pretty delightful, from the trio taking their host on a shopping spree to Quavo breaking down the etymology of “dab,” which prompted an extremely appropriate atonement from Corden:
I feel slightly responsible, as I think many other dads in their late 30s early 40s do, where I feel like I might have ruined it. And I want to say, and I’m looking in front of you and I’m saying, I apologize for the destruction of the dab. I do. I’m sorry.
But the best moment comes early on. After Corden makes his mea culpa, the entire car launches into “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.” They take it pretty literally, throwing in some Macarena and dad dabs, but Migos really should take note: putting out some Whitney Houston covers would be a brilliant idea.
