According to reports that surfaced, the government is looking at taxpayers’ social media accounts to crack down on potential tax fraud.
France has already made an announcement about the implementation of this move, when the Minister of Action and Public Accounts said during an interview that the government will look at social media accounts to see if the person of interest is living beyond their means.
In the United States, one Florida woman named Rashia Wilson has already experienced this, as she bragged on Facebook about being “the queen of IRS tax fraud.” Because of that, her social media posts were read in court, and resulted in her getting 21 years in prison.
