ATLANTA – Operations are back to normal at the Midtown MARTA station after police said two women were hit by a train.

Police said a person is in custody and the two women are in the hospital.

The North-South line of MARTA was shut down as police gathered information and spoke to witnesses.

A witness told Channel 2 Action News he saw a man push a woman onto the train tracks, when another woman tried to help her, both women were hit.

“Everybody was shook up,” the man said.

Channel 2 Action News saw paramedics wheeling away a woman on a stretcher.

MARTA police said the women were alert and conscious when they were taken to the hospital.

The incident happened just before 5 p.m. Sunday.

The incident is caused delays for the MARTA service.

MARTA provided a bus bridge between the Arts Center station and North Avenue station in Midtown.
