STARBUCKS EXPANDS HEALTH COVERAGE BENEFITS FOR TRANSGENDER EMPLOYEES
Starbucks made an announcement this week that they will increase their health benefits for transgender employees. According to the Hill, Starbucks will cover surgeries that were previously considered cosmetic for transgender employees. Although gender reassignment surgery was covered under Starbucks health benefits since 2012, procedures such as voice therapy, breast reduction or augmentation, facial feminization surgery and hair implants will be included in the health benefits package. The extension of benefits for transgender employees was planned by Starbucks and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health.
