2 years ago Bridget Shiel, 19, of Atlanta, Georgia left her home to go to the store on May 30, 2016, ahead of a planned meet-up with friends. Around 11:30 p.m. she was spotted in her car in a gas station convenience store parking lot with two men.
She was in the passenger seat of her car and looked “extremely nervous,” according to an eyewitness, police said.
A few hours later, on May 31, she was found naked in a grassy area near a basketball court in Oakland City Park. She has sustained seven gunshot wounds to her back, buttocks, and legs. Investigators said she was running away when she was shot. Her car and clothes were later found behind a restaurant.
Two years later, on May 31, 2018 police issued a warrant for one of the men seen with Bridget in her car before she was tragically murdered. A Sprite can found near her car and clothes, was the DNA link police used to identify him. Christopher Spencer, 28, a known gang member tied to five killings in the metro Atlanta area in the past two years and who is already serving a life sentence for one of those crime, is suspected to be on of Bridget’s killers.
Atlanta police couldn’t offer a motive but said they don’t believe the shooting was gang-related. In an interview with police, Spencer denied his involvement in Bridget’s murder. Spencer is in prison for the murder of a couple during a home invasion. He is also one of the men charged in connection with the murders of an 11-year-old and 15-year-old brother and sister.
Bridget was a hair stylist and a music video model. At the time of her death, Bridget had an ad for her services on the website Backpage. Backpage has since been taken down by the FBI. It is unknown if her ad had anything to do with her murder.
