THE KNUCKLE HEAD OF THE DAY GOES TO…

A Snellville man faces 13 felony counts and misdemeanor charges after authorities say he sent letters containing marijuana to several county officials.

Norman Calvert, 73, calls himself “Caprice” demanded full access to the Gwinnett County jail to distribute marijuana.

The judge, sheriff and the district atttorney blew off the threat, but then came a second letter, with a marijuana joint inside. Calvert claims to be an ambassador at large from heaven and as part of his religion, he says he should be allowed to hand out marijuana joints in return for donations. He also claims on Earth, he was discharged from the military and rents a house in Snellville.

Authorities say he has several videos on YouTube where he posts videos with anti-government, pro-marijuana messages.

“America is all in the Kool-Aid and don’t even know the flavor,” he says in one video.

One of his letters and accompanying joints, was sent to Gwinnett District Attorney Danny Porter.

“To him, it’s a form of civil protest, I think, except that it’s not rational,” Porter said. It’s not Calvert’s first time in court. He’s filed several federal lawsuits and was cited earlier this year for smoking pot on the steps of an Atlanta federal building.

Calvert is being held without bond.

Porter says it’s a minor case that likely will get a lot tougher once they figure out what to do with Calvert.
