Meek Mill has reached a deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and Amazon to produce a documentary series examining his struggle with incarceration and law enforcement. The series will backtrack to all his run-ins dating back the onset of his career. Meek Mill’s recent 5-month bid for a violation of his probation, sparked a heated debate about ethical treatment in the judicial system. Whether he asked for it or not, Meek Mill is forever a symbol of political martyrdom, at least in the eyes of the hip hop community.
The six-part series is slated for release sometime in 2019, to give you a rough idea of the production schedule. Meek’s 10-year struggle with judge Genece Brinkley will be a starting point for the directorial team to tackle the bigger issue of high incarceration rates for people of color.
