PROTESTORS BOYCOTT AGAINST STARBUCKS, BUT KEVIN HART’S REMARKS DOESN’T HOLD THE COFFEEHOUSE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT TRANSPIRED READ MORE…

The headlines coming out of mainstream news publications may acknowledge Kevin Hart for demanding that Starbucks make the fallout over the arrest of two Black men in one of its Philadelphia locations “right,” but the Phily-born comedian hasn’t had an easy time trying to convince ‘Black Twitter’ that he’s down with holding the coffeehouse chain accountable.

Over the past two days, Hart has toiled with followers, mostly due to a particular tweet in which he posed that “this is not a boycott @Starbucks situation,” but rather, one having to do with “horrible management.” The message was one that runs contrary to the position that a number of celebrities have taken,including T.I. and Killer Mike, who have called upon the community to stop spending money with the company.

In the hours that have passed since Hart’s tweet sparked debate over how to best go about addressing the situation, he’s published a succession of tweets during which he clarified that he was initially giving Starbucks the benefit of the doubt in hopes that they’d properly apologize and fire the persons responsible for what he deemed an incident of racial profiling. But seeing how the company didn’t meet his expectation, Hart eventually conceded that perhaps further actions from the community may be warranted.
