27 year old, Robert D. Coleman, was charged on Tuesday, for murder of 39 year old, Fedelia Montiel-Benitez

The incident occurred on July 10, 2017 when the two crossed paths at a 7-Eleven, in Virginia. After Coleman made his purchase, the two exchanged words which led to a disagreement. Although there were others who tried to diffuse the situation, Coleman followed Benitez once she left the store.

Surevaillance footage shows that Benitez said something to Coleman before she exited the store. Other footage of the two shows, Coleman knocking her out cold with one single punch. That hit put her in a coma that she would never recover from. Once the police got a hold of Coleman, he first denied the incident. Later, he confessed to his involvement in the attack. He also added that in his defense that Bentiez BAC level was .351, and her physical appearance resembled another man. But, it was when she projected her anger and called Coleman the N-word is when he went into rage.

However, the court didn’t accept the plea and claims that he tried to sell, and recommended that he served 10 years in prison for taking her life. Benitez died ten days after the attack in the hospital. He is scheduled to have his sentencing date on, May 24th.
