the Philly rapper’s legal team is appealing to the highest court in the state, the Pennslyvania Supreme Court. They are requesting to get presiding Judge Genece E. Brinkley removed from the case.
The Blast obtained court documents filed on Tuesday by Meek’s lawyers in which they claim the “case involves a pattern of judicial misconduct that has prejudiced the rights of a probationer and threatens to undermine the public’s confidence in the integrity of the judicial system.”
The documents further claim that Brinkley, the presiding judge, has repeatedly “exceeded the judicial role by sometimes essentially acting as a prosecutor and, at other times, taking an unusual interest in, and trying to inject herself into, Meek Mill’s personal and professional life.”
That’s not all; Meek’s attorneys also allege that Brinkley, through her own legal team, has discussed the case with the press and has threatened to sue the rapper’s managers and attorneys.
Further, Meek’s legal team says that Judge Brinkley has made determinations based on her knowledge of his conduct while on probation outside of official documentation, and relied on her own memory instead of official court records.
Meek’s lawyers want him released on bail immediately, Brinkley removed from the case, and her ruling that he violated probation be vacated.
