LOOKS LIKE “FREESTYLE FRIDAYS” MAY BE COMING BACK!
BET has officially announced the return of Freestyle Friday. BET networks partnered with YouTube to bring back the #FreestyleFridayBET hottest MC contest. Contestants can qualify for entry in the contest by subscribing to the BET Networks YouTube channel and posting a video of themselves rapping.
New York, Toronto, London and Los Angeles are the four major cities that will host live stream face-offs at YouTube studios. Rapper and Sirius XM radio personality Torae will host the New York kickoff on March 30.
Contestants will choose from three beats at random to rap to for 60 seconds or less. High-profile DJs will select a finalist from each city from across the country. Then, the four winning finalists will compete in a rap battle before a panel of celebrity judges on the Fan Fest main stage during the BET Experience in Los Angeles.
The winner will also be the opening act for the BET Experiences’ annual hip-hop show at the Staples Center. All of the live stream content will be featured in a 30-minute series that will be available on BET Network’s YouTube channel.
