DO YOU ACCEPT THE APOLOGY?

H&M posted an image of an African-American child modeling a sweatshirt with a “Coolest monkey in the jungle” slogan on the front. The image appeared online on the H&M UK website. The company has now removed the offensive ad from its website after many social media users and media outlets accused them of being racist.

H&M has released a statement apologizing to all for the thoughtless ad.

“We sincerely apologize for offending people with this image of a printed hooded top,” H&M said in a statement. “The image has been removed from all online channels and the product will not be for sale in the United States. We believe in diversity and inclusion in all that we do and will be reviewing all our internal policies accordingly to avoid any future issues.”

Everyone from celebrities to people advocating for social justice for African-Americans and others chimed in through social media.

H&M has issued an apology, but do you accept it?
