FIND OUT WHAT THE LAST KNUCKLE HEAD OF THE YEAR

On this past Christmas, a man from Ohio tried to rob a local gas station using a fake gun made from furniture parts.

Jeffrey Derringer, 48, is facing charges of aggravated robbery in connection with the incident at the Circle K in Akron on Monday.

Police say Derringer walked into the gas station convenience store wearing a hooded sweatshirt and waving what employees initially thought was a rifle.

Derringer had a pole, a fake scope, a spring and two table legs fastened together to look like a rifle.

The suspect, who is a known customer to the employees at the Circle K, ordered everyone to get down on the ground and the clerk to empty the cash register.

One of the employees was able to escape to the back of the store where they called police.

While trying to rob the store, one of the employees realized the rifle was actually fake and confronted Derringer with the help of three customers.

Derringer allegedly tried to flee by running to an empty parking lot next door, but was caught and detained until officers arrived to take him into custody and is now being held at the Summit County jail awaiting his first court appearance.
