Foxx will be playing Tupac’s godfather and prominent Black Panther Elmer “Geronimo” Pratt
Pratt spent 27-years in prison after being falsely convicted of murder in 1981.
In 1997, Pratt was released from prison and his sentence vacated after it was revealed that police had concealed evidence from the case.
Johnnie Cochran, the late legal titan, worked to overturn Pratt’s conviction and helped the Black Panther leader land a $4.5M settlement for false imprisonment.
The film is entitled Signal Hill after one of Johnnie Cochran’s higher-profile cases.
