LIPSCOMB PRESIDENT SERVING AFRICAN-AMERICAN STUDENTS “BLACK MEALS” WITH COTTON STALK CENTERPIECES!Lipscomb University President, Randolph Lowry, thought it was a great idea serve “black meals” at a diversity dinner and use cotton stalks as centerpieces for the tables. He hosted the diversity dinner at his home, inviting African-American students to chat about their experience at the predominately white university.

Nakayla, an African American student at the university, detailed on Instagram how incredibly offended she and her friend were when they walked in. The dinner was considered “black meals” including mac and cheese, collard greens, corn bread, etc. To top the dinner off, they had NO chairs to sit in while they ate.

Nakayla’s friend asked why were cotton stalks used at the tables. The President’s response was that he didn’t know, he has seen it before they did. Then he said “It isn’t inherently bad if we were all wearing it” then walked off.
