Airlines are canceling flights left and right from Florida in preparation for Hurricane Irma who is set to hit Florida tomorrow morning around 8 am. Many flights have also been not only cancelled, but also sold out! According to ABC news, American Airlines says it will begin wind down operations in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Sarasota and West Palm Beach by Friday afternoon and cancel flights through the weekend. The airline has canceled more than 2,000 flights Sept. 7-11.
Here at Streetz we heard that many of the prices from flights is through the roof! So we decided to take a look ourselves.
As they stated on ABC, many of the flights are cancelled, and definitely sold out. Another thing that we noticed is that the prices have also DOUBLED for many flights. A typical one way flight to Atlanta from Miami ranges around $200, but NOW a one way ticket is priced at $520 !
Florida has called for a state of emergency and we have been told that hundreds of people plan to come to Georgia to escape the hurricane.
