Recently Mike Tyson was interviewed and he shared one of his most personal secrets!
Mike Tyson unveiled a revelation that he had kept to himself for decades. As a child, the retired heavyweight boxing champ expressed how he was sexually assaulted by a man in his Brownsville, Brooklyn neighborhood.
While sitting across from ESPN’s Jeremy Schapp, Tyson was apprehensive to go into detail, but nonetheless straightforward about the ordeal, stating, “I don’t like to talk about that, I like to keep that where it was in the past, but I was molested as a child.” Tyson admitted to keeping the incident to himself for a long time because he never felt it was anybody’s business and like many men who’ve been sexually abused, he saw the experience as an emasculating one. Rising to the top of boxing’s ranks definitely helped him put any inner turmoil about being victimized away, and he supposes that it may have even been in some part responsible for him pursuing a successful boxing career.
Tyson stated “I was a little kid… He was an old man,” Tyson would only say. “He bullied me, sexually abused me and stuff. Never seen him again.”
