RICHARD JONES HAS NOW BEEN RELEASED!!! STREETZ HAS THE DETAILS!!
A man who goes by the name of Richard Jones, 41, had been charged with aggravated robbery in Kansas City, Kansas. Just about 20 years ago Jones was in federal prison because he was accused of trying to steal a purse in a Wal-Mart parking lot in RoeLand Park, Kansas. Jones had an alibi and physical evidence, DNA or fingerprints even linked to the crime.
In prison, Jones repeatedly heard from other inmates about another prisoner who looked just like him. They told him this man was also named Richard, but went by Rick or Ricky.
Jones passed this information along to his lawyers who, along with the Midwest Innocence Project, found Ricky. Unlike Jones, Ricky lived near the scene of the crime.
“I don’t believe in luck, I believe I was blessed,” Jones told the Kansas City Star.
