It was affirmed a year ago that a police assault on J. Cole’s North Carolina studio will be featured on his HBO Documentary and was the motivation behind “Neighbors” off of Cole’s album “4 Your Eyez Only.”
Neighbors assumed that the house where Cole was recording was a center point for drug distribution alarming the police who directed the assault. Producer Elite had this to state in a meeting with Complex:
“They flew helicopters over, sent an entire SWAT team armed with weapons, broke down the door and searched the whole house,” he said. “They go downstairs and all they see is a studio, and obviously they felt stupid.”
The raid took place during the SXSW festival in Texas, so no one was present at the home during the police raid, which often times can be fatal. Footage has been released on of the raid, watch below.
