Today Dylann Roof, the “self-declared white supremacist” was charged and found guilty with murdering nine black worshipers at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in 2015. The prosecutor on the case, Nathan Williams stated in his closing arguments Thursday that “These nine people exemplified a goodness that was greater than his message of hate”. Out of the 33 charges against Roof, 24 of them qualify as hate crimes and out of those, 18 carry the death penalty. This Jan. 3rd, a 12 – person jury will then decide Roof’s fate.
