EMPIRE IS MAKING A POLITICAL STATEMENT AND STREETZ KNOWS HOW!

A video campaign that endorses Hillary Clinton, which stars the cast members of the hit series Empire, has just surfaced. Lee Daniels, the creator of the show, also appears in the ad. The purpose of the campaign is to increase Hillary’s appeal to millennial voters.

The actors and actresses discuss the concerns they have with the campaign in the minute long video. They go on to say that Hillary Clinton is the only presidential candidate that will pursue the interests of African Americans. Bryshere Gray, who plays Hakeem Lyon, says that Clinton is the only “person in this race who said Black Lives Matter.”

According to TIME, the Clinton campaign spent a total of $30 million on their efforts to connect with younger voters. The Empire cast ad was directed by Lee Daniels. During the Democratic National Convention, Daniels encouraged millennials to vote during this critical presidential election. He reaches out to young voters again during the Clinton ad.

“So many women and men died for us to have the right to vote,” Daniels said. “Every time we sit out, we dishonor their sacrifices.” Other cast members such as Gabourey Sidibe,  Jussie Smollett, Taraji P. Henson, and many more have a slot in the video as well.
