Colin Kaepernick, San Fransisco 49ers quarterback makes the cover of Time Magazine for taking a knee during the National Anthem to bring awareness about police brutality against Black people. The issue will release Oct. 3, 2016, showing just how far reaching the conversation starter has become.
His kneeling protest during the national anthem has grown, and has made a national statement. Kaepernick’s protest was first captured in August, when he sat during the national anthem of the third preseason game of the year for the team.
On Aug. 26, he protested while he sat during the first two preseason games, he wasn’t in uniform and the protest went unnoticed but in the month since his protest, it has captured a lot of attention.
