Metro Atlanta is gearing up for a packed weekend from Friday, July 31 through Sunday, August 2, with events offering something for sports fans, families, food lovers and music enthusiasts.

Sports are a major part of the weekend lineup, with the Atlanta Braves hosting the Washington Nationals at Truist Park, the Atlanta Dream facing the Seattle Storm Friday night and Atlanta Falcons training camp giving football fans an early look at the team. On Saturday, downtown Atlanta will also welcome the free Red Bull Showrun, featuring Formula 1 and performance vehicles, before BIG3 Basketball arrives at State Farm Arena Sunday.

Families can also take advantage of several back-to-school events, including the Atlanta Public Schools Back-to-School Bash and the Angel C. Reese Foundation Back to School Bash on August 1. The weekend also features festivals and cultural celebrations, including A Taste of Nigeria at Piedmont Park, The Link Festival in Brookhaven and the Atlanta Water Lantern Festival on Sunday.

Live entertainment rounds out the weekend with concerts, comedy, theater and special performances happening throughout the area. From a candlelight tribute to Drake and a Luh Tyler concert to local arts showcases and family-friendly activities, Atlanta has plenty of options for getting out of the house and enjoying the final weekend before many students return to school.

With events spread across Atlanta and surrounding communities, July 31-August 2 is shaping up to be one of the busiest weekends of the summer.
