The Atlanta Hawks added two intriguing young talents during the first round of the 2026 NBA Draft, continuing the franchise’s efforts to build around its emerging core. Holding picks No. 8 and No. 23, Atlanta focused on adding athleticism, versatility, and frontcourt depth as the team looks to remain a contender in the Eastern Conference.
With the eighth overall selection, the Hawks drafted Houston guard Kingston Flemings. The dynamic backcourt prospect is known for his two-way play, scoring ability, and defensive intensity. Flemings enters Atlanta as one of the most exciting young guards in this year’s draft class and could provide valuable depth alongside the Hawks’ talented young roster. His combination of athleticism and playmaking gives Atlanta another versatile weapon as the franchise continues to build for the future.
Later in the first round, Atlanta selected St. John’s standout Zuby Ejiofor with the 23rd overall pick. The powerful forward became one of college basketball’s most decorated players after a dominant senior season, earning multiple conference honors while helping lead St. John’s to one of its most successful campaigns in decades. Ejiofor brings toughness, rebounding, physical defense, and high-energy play to the Hawks’ frontcourt rotation. Analysts believe his relentless motor and ability to impact games on both ends of the floor make him an ideal fit for Atlanta’s culture and roster needs.
With the additions of Flemings and Ejiofor, the Hawks leave the 2026 NBA Draft with two players capable of contributing both now and in the future. Atlanta addressed key needs in both the backcourt and frontcourt while adding young talent to a roster that already features promising pieces such as Jalen Johnson, Zaccharie Risacher, Dyson Daniels, Onyeka Okongwu, and Asa Newell.
