Metro Atlanta sports mogul expands sports empire into women’s golf, joining new WTGL league
ATLANTA — Arthur M. Blank, the Atlanta business leader and co-founder of The Home Depot, has been announced as the first owner of a women’s professional golf team representing Atlanta in the newly launched Women’s Team Golf League (WTGL).
The WTGL, a high-energy team golf competition created in partnership with the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and TMRW Sports, is designed to showcase top female golfers in a team format and is set to debut in winter 2026–27.
Blank — already a familiar name in Atlanta sports — will lead the new franchise as part of his AMB Sports and Entertainment portfolio, which includes the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, MLS’s Atlanta United FC, the NWSL’s upcoming Atlanta club, and the TGL’s Atlanta Drive GC, the defending SoFi Cup champions.
“We are thrilled to partner with TMRW Sports to be a founding owner in WTGL,” Blank said in a statement. “The growth of women’s sports over the past few years has been remarkable, and as we’ve seen through our other golf properties, women and girls are participating in the game at a higher rate than ever before. We are excited to provide a platform for the top golfers in the women’s game to showcase their talent and personalities while competing for championships for Atlanta.”
The announcement included news that several prominent LPGA stars have already committed to play in WTGL, including world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul, Charley Hull, Lydia Ko, Lottie Woad, Brooke Henderson, Rose Zhang and Lexi Thompson. More full team details, including official names and branding, are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
League officials say WTGL will combine competitive team golf with immersive experiences and analytics technology, building on the high-tech entertainment model pioneered by TMRW’s men’s TGL franchises.
With this move, Atlanta cements itself as a growing hub for women’s professional sports and reinforces Blank’s ongoing commitment to expanding opportunities for female athletes in major league-level competition.
