Metro Atlanta residents are being urged to remain cautious as icy road conditions continue across the region following the weekend’s winter storm.
Officials and traffic teams have reported that many areas—especially in North Georgia and secondary roads—are still experiencing hazardous travel conditions, with crews continuing to treat major interstates. Even when roads look clear, black ice can form quickly, making driving unpredictable and dangerous.
As the cold air settles in, conditions could worsen overnight, creating more slick spots for commuters during early morning hours. Drivers are encouraged to limit travel unless necessary, slow down if on the road, and stay alert for bridges and overpasses, which tend to freeze first.
Atlanta-area residents should also prepare for continued winter weather impacts, including possible delays, closures, and power-related issues as temperatures remain extremely low.
