A Fulton County judge has ruled that authorities must return a large portion of the property seized from rapper Young Thug during the Young Slime Life (YSL) investigation by 5 p.m. this Friday, after dismissing the state’s appeal in the civil forfeiture case. WSB-TV Channel 2 – Atlanta
The order follows the September dismissal of the civil forfeiture lawsuit against Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffrey Williams. Prosecutors had appealed the ruling, but the judge found their delays in obtaining required appeal transcripts were “unreasonable and inexcusable,” effectively violating court timelines and prolonging Williams’ deprivation of his property. Williams has been working to reclaim dozens of items seized during the long investigation tied to the YSL RICO case, which began in 2022. The property slated for return includes $145,300 in cash, several firearms, and multiple vehiclessuch as a 2022 Chevrolet Corvette, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango, and a Can-Am Spyder. This order marks another development following Williams’ negotiated plea deal in October 2024 — which resulted in his release from jail and ongoing probation — and follows earlier partial returns of his belongings, like jewelry returned in February. The judge’s decision now requires that all remaining property be returned promptly.
