Usher Raymond has filed a lawsuit in Fulton County against three former business partners—producers Keith Thomas and Bryan-Michael Cox, along with Charles Hughes—claiming they failed to repay a loan he made for a planned Atlanta restaurant. According to the complaint, the project’s property wasn’t acquired and after months of inaction Usher requested his money back. He says he received $1 million, but roughly $700,000 remains unreturned and was allegedly used for purposes without his authorization. AJC+2FOX 5 Atlanta+2
Usher is seeking at least $4.9 million in damages, calculating the figure as $700,000 for each of the seven claims filed in the suit. WSB-TV Channel 2 – Atlanta+2AJC+2 Producer Bryan-Michael Cox released a statement saying he did notorchestrate the deal, was a passive minority shareholder, and affirmed that his longtime friendship with Usher remains intact.
