R&B/Soul Icon D’Angelo Dies at 51

Grammy-winning R&B and neo-soul artist D’Angelo passed away at the age of 51 on October 14, 2025, after a private and prolonged fight with cancer. The Washington Post+3WSB-TV Channel 2 – Atlanta+3WSB-TV Channel 2 – Atlanta+3

Born Michael Eugene Archer in Richmond, Virginia, he was known for his musical versatility, combining soul, funk, gospel, and hip-hop into a deeply expressive sound. WSB-TV Channel 2 – Atlanta+3PBS+3WSB-TV Channel 2 – Atlanta+3

He is survived by his children. His family asked for privacy during this difficult time while celebrating the musical legacy he leaves behind.
