MARTA has temporarily halted streetcar service as Georgia Power performs underground electrical repairs between Courtland Street and Peachtree Center Avenue. The suspension, expected to last three to four months, is necessary because streetcars cannot operate near open construction zones.
To serve riders during the closure, MARTA will run shuttle vans designed to resemble the streetcar. The agency will also use this time for additional upgrades, including track maintenance, station refurbishments, tree trimming, deep cleaning, and new signage.
