Streetz 94.5 once again proved it’s more than just a voice on the radio in collaboration with Rolling out Magazine. It’s a heartbeat in the community. On Sunday, Streetz 94.5 hit the streets with its Back-to-School Takeover, giving away over 3,500 book bags filled with school supplies and wrapping up with our own J-Smoke’s Fresh Cuts Initiative with more than 1,000 free haircuts for students, just in time for the new school year.

This full-day citywide effort was powered by a network of passionate partners and community organizations:

  • On the Eastside, Streetz teamed up with TKT Indoor Inflata Park and 1 Village Inc. to launch the day with energy and purpose hosted by Jigi Deniro.
  • Next, the crew stopped by Grove Park Recreation Center alongside Streetz personality J Smoke, where hundreds of students lined up for fresh school gear and even fresher fades.
  • The journey continued to Douglasville, partnering with the Fit for the Future Foundation and A Grandmother’s Love, INC to reach students and families in the Westside community with Solo and SMH TAY.
  • The day wrapped up at The Bank Event Center in collaboration with the City of Atlanta, bringing joy, supplies, and style to families preparing for the school year ahead.

“This is what Streetz is all about,” said Steve Hegwood OWNER/CEO at Streetz 94.5. “It’s more than music, it’s not just about us. We are committed to showing up for the people, especially our youth, wherever they are. Yesterday was a win for the city and the next generation.”

With support from community partners, volunteers, barbers, and listeners, Streetz 94.5 helped families across the metro area start the school year with confidence, style, and support.
