Atlanta News First Reports- The City of Atlanta employees have been ordered to return to work in-person, effective April 10.
“Thanks for all that you do to keep Atlanta Moving Forward. We look forward to seeing everyone on April 10, 2025,” wrote Calvin Blackburn III, Atlanta’s interim commissioner of human resources.
Blackburn announced the move in a memo, acquired by Atlanta News First, sent to city employees on March 10.
The order directs employees currently working 100% remote to return to the office at least three days a week.
Atlanta’s order comes as the city prepares to approve the FY 2026 budget.
On March 6, the city’s chief operating officer and chief financial officer sent a memo to department leaders warning them of potential budget cuts for FY 2026.
“As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure financial stability, all departments are required to assess and prepare for budget reductions,” according the memo titled “FY2026 Budget Reduction Scenarios,” acquired by Atlanta News First.
