Mayor Andre Dickens announced the launch in a video posted to the City of Atlanta’s Instagram account, encouraging local businesses and community partners to support the initiative. “Atlanta’s young people…can step into career-building opportunities, earn competitive pay, and gain experiences that will shape their futures,” Dickens said.

The SYEP portal is now open here, where youth can apply for summer jobs across a wide range of industries, including technology, aviation, public service, business and the arts.

Since Mayor Dickens relaunched the program in 2022, nearly 14,000 young Atlantans have participated. The city reported employing more than 5,700 youth in 2024 across 143 businesses and 15 city departments. Participants earned an average wage of $17.70 per hour, with total wages reaching $6.8 million.
