Georgia college system shuts down multiple campuses over threats

A Georgia college system has ceased operations and evacuated several campuses after a threat was made Tuesday. Officials with Georgia Highlands College said they shut down for the day to allow officers to investigate a “threat specific to GHC sites.” The college’s main campus is in Rome, but officials initially announced the Marietta campus was being shut down before extending the closure to the other campuses.

The college also has campuses in Floyd, Cartersville and Paulding County.

Marietta police said officers swept that campus but didn’t find anything suspicious. All students and staff have been asked to leave the school.
