Former Senator David Perdue has officially announced his bid for governor of Georgia via social media.

In a video message posted to twitter, Perdue cited his reason for running was to stop Stacey Abrams from securing the seat. Abrams announced her intention to run for Governor of Georgia on the democratic ticket ahead of the 2022 election.

Perdue also took a jab at current Georgia Governor Brian Kemp alleging that Kemp failed in the role.

Perdue is running as a Republican. He is anticipated to face Republican Vernon Jones and Governor Brian Kemp in the state’s primary election.
