Smoking ban now in effect at Atlanta airport

You can breathe a little easier at Atlanta’s airport. Overnight, a new smoking ban took effect.

Over the summer, the Atlanta City Council voted to ban smoking in public places like bars, enclosed workplaces and the airport.

In fact, city officials got rid of the smoking rooms inside the airport.

You can smoke outside, but only in designated areas.

Airport officials designated 15 smoking zones outside the terminal.

If you break the law, the fine is $100 for the first violation and $200 if you are caught again.

Passengers with connecting flights and layovers that need a cigarette break will have to go outside to smoke and then go back through security to catch their flight.
