Jussie Smollett has given his phone records to the Chicago police department, 13 days following his alleged attack by supporters of Make America Great Again. Smollett’s manager, Brandon Moore sent over the necessary documents Monday morning. A spokesperson from Smollett’s camp has said: Phone records from Jussie’s manager were sent to police on February 5, 2019 and Jussie’s records were sent over recently. Both were sent to Chief of Staff to the Superintendent of Police Robert Boik, who confirmed receipt. They have Jussie’s records from within an hour of the incident.

Since retrieving the requested documents, Chicago police have denied the given records. Reports claim, the police department allegedly received a heavily redacted file of Smollett’s phone bill.

A representative for Smollett spoke about the redacted information: Any redacted information was intended to protect the privacy of personal contacts of individuals not relevant to the attack. Within their criminal investigation, police were aiming to corroborate Smollett & Moore’s claims they were on the phone together when Smollett was attacked. They both said that Smollett was called a “fa**ot” and “ni**er” during his attack.
