California native Essie Grundy has filed a lawsuit against Walmart. After her latest trip to Walmart, she was left speechless when she noticed there was a glass case separating her from her natural hair care products.
Grundy told reporters at a news conference Friday, “It was something that I couldn’t go in and feel. When I purchased something I couldn’t reach out and get it from her after she took it from behind the glass. She had to walk it to the counter and gave it directly to the cash register and then I had to pay for it. And then I was able to touch it.”
Homegirl was only buying a bottle of lotion and a $0.48 comb!
The mother of five says the whole situation made her feel like a criminal. She said it seemed like the products were “segregated” from others in the same isle.
High profile attorney Gloria Alfred has agreed to take on the case against the corporation with a racial discrimination suit.
A spokesperson from Walmart said, “We’re sensitive to this situation and like other retailers, that some products such as electronics, automotive, cosmetics, and other personal care products are subject to additional security.”
If thats so, then WHY are they only locking up the black products behind the glass? Why not the whole isle?
