GUESS WHO PRESENTED THE AWARD TO KAEPERNICK!?
Colin Kaepernick has been receiving a lot of praise for the sacrifice he has made for the liberation of disenfranchised people of color. This pass Tuesday Kaepernick was presented with The Muhammad Ali Legacy Award during The Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year Awards. The award was presented to him by Beyoncé. Beyoncé express her feelings about how it was a privilege to present the award to Kaepernick. The former 49ers Quarterback accepted the award and spoke about how he owes it to the people who supported him during his National Anthem Protest that still continues till this day.
Kaepernick said, “I say this as a person who receives credit for using my platform to protest systemic oppression, racialized injustice and the dire consequences of anti-blackness in America… I accept this award not for myself, but on behalf of the people. Because if it were not for my love of the people, I would not have protested. And if it was not for the support from the people, I would not be on this stage today.” Kaepernick has a platform that he lives by and it is for the people.
