NEW SONG AIRS ON THE GET DOWN SEASON 2

On the popular Netflix series, ‘The Get Down’ based on the beginning of hip-hop in the 1970s, Nas released a new track from the soundtrack.

The new song, titled “Angel Dust,” refers to a huge drug epidemic in New York City during that time (1970s). Nas spits on the song reminding listeners that he is still and will always be a lyricist.

“Angels with dirty faces, angels with broken wings/The devil’s dust, PCP, invaded blood streams/People lining up to get it, Fantastic knew how to flip it/Illegal substances constructing, but plus addicted/Trust it and respect it, almost got me arrested/All of the time I invested in school is now of question/Child prone to violence like a dog returns to its own father,” he says.Season 1 of The Get Down was released last year where as Season 2 was released last week on Netflix. Some other records include music from artist 6lack, Chance The Rapper, Lil Yachty, Jaden Smith, Janelle Monae, and John Legend to name a few.

Season 2 features The Get Down Brothers—which consist of actors Justice Smith, who plays Ezekiel “Books” Figuero; Skylan Brooks, who plays Ra Ra Kipling; Tremaine Brown Jr., who portrays Boo Boo Kipling; and Shameik Moore, who is the group’s DJ, Shaolin Fantastic—performing the song.
