FREE MUSIC IS NOW ELIGIBLE FOR NOMINATION
It’s a great day to be a Soundcloud artist.
Last year, Chance the Rapper created a petition asking the Grammys to make Soundcloud music eligible for Grammy nomination. He confirmed this morning that free music (posted on a streaming service which has been running for 1 or more years) will be eligible for Grammy nomination beginning in 2018.
Officials from the Grammys claim that Chance’s petition “did not influence their decision” — however, the timing seems a little ironic.
With that being said, props to you, Chance.
