Obama leaves America emotional, as he gives his final words as President of the United States. Although he was saying farewell, he ensured the American people to hold their confidence in America as a whole as the country foresees economic inequality, racism, closed-mindedness. “We weaken those ties when we define some of us as more American than others,” Mr. Obama stated, “when we write off the whole system as inevitably corrupt, and when we sit back and blame the leaders we elect without examining our own role in electing them.”
Obama, still optimistic, also stated that the divides that separate us from one another today, could still be bridged. For the country to transition from the nations first black president to a president that is said to have ran a racist campaign, is quit the turnaround. However, Obama urges America to not give up. He was careful to not point fingers directly at Trump, but did reveal points that rebuked multiple of the positions that Trump takes such as barring muslims from coming into America and climate change.
“If every economic issue is framed as a struggle between a hardworking white middle class and undeserving minorities,” Mr. Obama exclaimed, “then workers of all shades will be left fighting for scraps while the wealthy withdraw further into their private enclave. If we decline to invest in the children of immigrants, just because they don’t look like us, we diminish the prospects of our own children — because those brown kids will represent a larger share of America’s work force,” he stated.
From providing affordable healthcare for individuals yet keeping the cap on healthcare costs, to passing the wall street reform, to ending the war in Iraq, Obama will go down in history as one of the most loved presidents by American Citizens. Farewell Obama, the country solutes you!
