Dr. Dre is widely recognized for his hip hop genius,iconic producing, and being hip hop’s first billionaire. A true success among the rap community. But after last’s nights premiere of Surviving Compton, he may be getting viewed in a different light.
His former girlfriend Michel’le was also featured in this movie and while watching Dr.Dre looked nothing short than a “ruthless woman beater”.
Despite Michel’le’s many attempts to speak out on the domestic abuse she suffered at Dre’s hands during the 1990s, it’s as if people realized this piece of his past for the first time thanks to the film — especially since she was left entirely out of the box office smash Straight Outta Compton, produced by Dre, despite the fact that she was an integral part of the N.W.A. days both personally and professionally. In no small way, Surviving Compton was Michel’le’s way of writing herself back into history
