BETTY SHELBY TURNS HERSELF IN AND WAS RELEASED 20 MIN LATER…

Tulsa Officer Betty Shelby turned herself in overnight and was booked for first degree manslaughter in the killing of Terence Crutcher.

Prosecutors in Tulsa, Oklahoma announced the charge Thursday against officer Betty Shelby, who fatally shot 40-year-old Terence Crutcher after his SUV stopped in a roadway last week. He was unarmed at the time of the shooting, and video of the incident showed he had his hands raised throughout most of the incident.

Shelby was booked in at 1:11 am Friday morning before posting $50,000 bond and being released at 1:31 am. Tulsa D.A. says that Shelby’s “fear resulted in her unreasonable actions.” You may recall Shelby said that she feared for her life when Crutcher was not “following orders” and attempted to reach into the window of his vehicle and retrieve what she thought was a weapon. However, it’s been determined that Crutcher’s window was closed, so there was no way he could have been trying to reach inside.

Attorneys for the Crutcher’s family are happy that charges have been brought against Shelby and stated “We are thankful, and we are happy, But let me clear, the family wants and deserves full justice, and full justice requires not just charges but a vigorous prosecution and a conviction.”
