The Atlanta City Council has voted 12-2 to ban short-term rentals like Airbnb and Vrbo in the Home Park neighborhood, citing safety concerns and disruption to residential life.
Officials say the surge in rentals in the area—located near Georgia Tech and Atlantic Station—has threatened the character of the community. Council documents labeled the trend of “transient commercial occupancies” as both illegal under current zoning laws and harmful to public welfare.
As part of the new ordinance, no new short-term rental licenses will be issued in Home Park.
